I believe in the healing power of a good night's sleep.
I believe in the way that sleep makes space for yesterday's troubles to fade and time for yesterday's triumphs to become embedded in our spirits. Sleep sets our thinking back to level and our hearts back to love, restores our bodies, allows our brains to breathe. I believe that sleep is like a balm for the soul.
I also believe that most of us don't get enough sleep and when we do finally find a chunk of restful hours in the dark under a blanket, it can feel like coming up for air, like gasping after swimming the length of the lap lane under water.
Our days are full and we are busy squeezing out every last bit of time to write paint clean watch movies read play talk laugh eat drink be merry be sad be alive, that we push sleep aside in favor of the doing, when it is sleep that will guide our way in the being.
