35/100 Days of I Believe

I believe that growing doesn't feel good while you're doing it, and once you've done it there's little that feels better. I tell my kids this all the time, and my friends, especially myself, anyone who will listen.

Think cutting teeth. Starting an exercise routine. Those pains in your legs they actually call growing pains.

The gums are sore, the muscles ache, the bones hurt. It's uncomfortable to be in the growing part, breaking the gums, stretching the muscles and creating new fibers, learning to ride a bike or play the violin. Being a beginner at just about anything.

But chewing food? Feeling strong? Growing taller, making music, pedaling on down the road. We wouldn't miss out those things because it hurts getting there, would we?
