Day 58/100 #100daysofseedsoflight

I’m a little bit of a podcast junkie.  I like to listen to them in the car, in the studio, in the kitchen, sometimes while I walk.  Sometimes I like silence, and lots of times I listen to music, but I love love love a good podcast.

Yesterday, I was listening to a new-to-me podcast - Oprah’s Super Soul Conversations - it was episode 9 with Marianne Williamson (and holy moly there are a lot of episodes!) and it was like Marianne and Oprah were talking straight to me. ✨
It was early in the episode and they were using an image of the sky as a metaphor to illustrate their point (my point!) about perspective.  I’m not even going to try to recreate the conversation, here’s the gist: the sky is blue; the sky is actually always blue; the sky is blue on bright sunny days, and the sky is blue on cloudy grey days; on the cloudy grey days, it’s not that the sky isn’t blue, it’s that there are grey clouds obscuring our view of the blue sky; the sky is still always blue.  And we get to choose the way we see the sky (I’m riffing now - this is me, not Oprah and Marianne) we can ignore the sky and pay it no mind, we can remind ourselves that the sky is blue even when it’s covered by grey clouds, or we can sink into a state of worry and fear because the sky appears to be grey on a given day.

My takeaway is this: let the blue sky be a guide to remind yourself that there is goodness and there is light, even when it’s hard to see or find or remember.  The sky is always blue.

I recommend the episode, if you’re looking for a listen. ✨

{edited to add: there is a lot of god talk in this episode. if that bothers you, be aware that it’s there.}
